We must end this uncivil war that pits red against blue, rural versus urban, conservative versus liberal.

WATCH ON WASHINGTON

Statewide program lets citizens question their members of Congress.

________________

President Biden has called on a divided nation to "listen to one another and hear one another." Watch On Washington was designed with this in mind. Produced on a state-by-state basis, our series links a state’s congressional delegation in Washington to their constituents back home. Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle appear from our Washington studios and the public ask questions from local PBS studios or through their own digital services.

Few periods in our nation's history have been more challenging than the one we're in now.

________________

Today's problems are complex and finding solutions begins with an open exchange of ideas and increasingly the people want to be involved. Watch on Washington creates digital neighborhoods that enable citizens to take part in their democracy.

Watch On Washington airs quarterly, pre-empting regularly scheduled PBS programming on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings when Congress is in session. It builds on the solid audiences of “Nova” and “Frontline” gaining a three to four Nielsen rating which translates into tens of thousands of homes. PBS stations attribute Watch on Washington’s good ratings to its local appeal as well as to its tune-in advertising, on-air promos and congressional press releases.

South Carolina Educational Television ranked South Carolina’s Watch On Washington as one of its highest-rated programs. North Carolina’s Watch On Washington,"After the Flood: Recovery,” was one of the highest-rated programs on UNC-TV. PBS stations in Tennessee operate independently and in two time zones, but they come together to form a statewide network for Tennessee’s Watch On Washington.
